The ninth annual conference of the Southeast SAS Users Group (SESUG) will be held in gracious Savannah, Georgia on September 22-24, 2002. We are seeking people to present papers on almost any topic related to the usage of SAS software. =====What to do: 1. Develop an idea for a presentation. Think of something YOU might like to hear about or something you are eager to talk about. 2. Review the list of sections later in this brochure. Decide which one or two best fit your subject. 3. Write an abstract outlining your presentation. This proposal should be 200 words or less. It should include enough about the subject to convince the Section Chair(s) that your topic will be a good addition to their section. 4. Submit your abstract directly to the section chair(s) for your first choice section. Include the contact information requested at the end of the flyer. E-mail your info to the address listed in the section description. Do NOT attach your abstract. Include it as text in the body of the message. For a US mail address, contact your section chair or Heidi Markovitz, conference co-chair. Abstract Deadline: March 31, 2002 5. If you don’t receive an acknowledgment of your abstract from the Section Chair(s) within 10 days, please check in with the Section Chair(s) or contact Heidi Markovitz, conference co-chair. 6. If your paper is accepted into either of the sections you requested, you will be notified by the end of April. Your completed paper will be due June 15. 7. Once you have been accepted as a presenter, a Section Chair will contact you to make sure you know what we expect and to answer questions. =====Paper and Presentation Notes: • Most presentations at the conference are 20 or 50 minutes long. Coders Corner talks are only 10. Posters are on display throughout the conference. • All presenters must submit a printable version for publication in the conference proceedings. Papers for 50-minute presentations may be a maximum of 12 pages long. 20-miute talks may be up to 6 pages. 1-2 pages are enough for Coders Corner. =====Sections and Chairs: Presentations will be organized into the following sections. =====Application Development Give us both a user's view of a working system and some behind the scenes tips on its development. This split view is ideal for showing off a system built for people who did not necessarily develop it. This is the place for those cool 'Net and Web-based applications that incorporate SAS software. Well-done graphics make wonderful persuaders and are invaluable for getting a different perspective on massive or complex data. Tom Fuchs tom.fuchs@lgeenergy.com (W) 502-627-2225 =====Hands-On Workshops Sorry, these workshops are all presented by invited speakers. Philip J. d'Almada pxd2@cdc.gov =====Posters provide a visual display of information rather than a formal lecture. Topics cover any and all uses of SAS software. This section is ideal for presentations that include graphics or source code or that can best be summarized in a few main points. Posters are on display throughout the conference. Caroline Bahler merccb@meridiansoftware.com (W) 919-518-1070 =====Statistics, Modelling, & Data Mining papers can cover a wide range of statistical procedures and methodologies utilizing the many SAS products (e.g. SAS/STAT®, SAS/QP®, SAS/ETS®, SAS/OR®, Enterprise Miner®). Techniques directly relevant to preparing data for statistical analysis are also of interest. Desirable papers may demonstrate new or improved developments in SAS software, utilize recent statistical literature, or present interesting statistical or data mining applications. Janice K. Training techniques, help desk issues, documentation, selecting course material are all relevant. Secrets of your successful experiences are especially welcome. Steve Noga snoga@rhoworld.com =====Tutorials are in-depth explanations of a wide range of topics within the SAS System. Papers are designed to provide users at all levels of expertise with specific "how-to" tools presented in a step-by-step approach. Since even experienced SAS users are always beginners at something, classify your presentation as Beginning if it can be understood by an audience who has never heard the keywords before. Advanced papers should assume the audience has a good working knowledge in the general subject area. Tutorial presenters are experienced with Base SAS in their own environments as well as with their chosen topics. Dan Bruns debruns@tva.gov (W) 423-751-6430 Gary E. We are looking for real-life experiences using SAS vertical products or SAS solutions with a special focus on corporate integration and acceptance, implementation planning, ROI, learning curves, required expertise, and software pros and cons. Maribeth Johnson maribeth@stat.mcg.edu =====Weekend Workshop Opportunities Do you have a professional seminar on a SAS subject that you would like to present in cooperation with SESUG 2002?
